2021 Herb CSA Program

How does the Culinary and Medicinal Herb CSA Program work?

Each month members receive

  1. An herbal tea blend or culinary herb mix to try, mixed on our farm and including only transitional organic herbs grown from seed or wild harvested on our transitional organic farm in Winlaw, BC.
  2. Three packages of dried herbs, with all herbs grown and dried on our farm.
  3. A written description about each herb you have received including referenced medicinal benefits.
  4. Recipe ideas to use both culinary and medicinal herbs.
  5. An extra: these will include, a herbal foot soak blend; a deliciously scented bar of soap made with our herbs from Witch Way Soapery also located in Winlaw, BC; a beautiful hand-made teacup from Everyday Pottery located in Castlegar, BC; and, a herbal salt blend made with our herbs and certified organic sea salt.

In addition to monthly package, members are also invited

  1. We invite our Herb CSA Program members to participate in an organised HERBAL EVENING AT THE FARM (following covid protocols and covid outbreaks-permitting). These evenings are in August and include a farm tour followed by an evening spent relaxing in the sitting area of our perennial herb field with a view of the Slocan river, brewing and tasting various herbal infusions and talking herbs. We will endeavor to ensure an herbalist or herbalist-in training is present to answer more specific questions about certain medicinal herbs.
  2. If you cannot participate in person, we will organise an online farm tour just for you!

By October, members will have

  • 5 packages of herbal teas and culinary mixes.
  • 15 packages of dried herbs in their home apothecary.
  • Five description pages explaining all the herbs with recipes.
  • Have seen, tasted, and enjoyed the farm and met other like-minded people during a fabulous Herbal Evening in August.
  • An herbal foot soak blend; a deliciously scented bar of soap made with our herbs from Witch Way Soapery also located in Winlaw, BC; a beautiful hand-made teacup from Everyday Pottery located in Castlegar, BC; and a herbal sea salt blend made with our herbs and certified organic sea salt.

Why join an Herb CSA Program?

Join our Herb CSA Community to support growing herbs right here in the Kootenays. To get medicine from your own area/country, ethically, sustainably, and organically. Meet like-minded people from all over the Kootenays (or further!) and learn and grow with us! We are a new farm and while we know a lot about growing and harvesting herbs, we are still learning about all the medicinal benefits, and that is why we will endeavor to always have an herbalist or herbalist in training on hand during our evenings. If you would like to join us,
